Professional Towing & Recovery Operators of Illinois

Professional Towing & Recovery Operators of Illinois is a trade association serving the towing and recovery industry since 1980. The organization represents towing companies across Illinois and engages in legislative advocacy to protect the interests of its members. During the recent spring legislative session, PTROI worked to defeat multiple bills affecting the towing industry, successfully opposing legislation related to vehicle security devices, relay boxes, relocation company regulations, and passenger transport on flatbeds. The association supported and helped pass SB 2040, which addresses wreck-chasing and predatory towing practices. PTROI provides resources to its members including Illinois Sexual Harassment Prevention Training materials required by state law. The organization takes positions against rogue operators who overcharge for towing services and works with the Illinois Commerce Commission on industry oversight issues.
