The company operates the largest inland and offshore tank barge fleets in the United States through its Marine Transportation segment, carrying petrochemicals, black oil, refined products, agricultural chemicals, and dry bulk products including sugar and coal. Through its Distribution and Services segment, Kirby serves as a nationwide distributor and service provider of diesel engines, transmissions, reduction gears, parts, and industrial equipment for oilfield services, marine, power generation, on-highway, and other industrial applications. The company manufactures and remanufactures oilfield service equipment including pressure pumping units, produces power generation equipment, specialized electrical distribution and control equipment, high capacity energy storage/battery systems, and rail car movers. Kirby also sells and rents equipment including generators, compressors, high capacity lift trucks, and refrigeration trailers. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas and is publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol KEX.
